NOVEMBER'S SPOTLIGHT IS ON PRINCIPAL ENGINEER: TOBIAS VUORENMAA
Tobias joined Xenit in 2017 as a Technician within Infrastructure and Cloud. Before that, Tobias had spent 5 years building his IT career at an international end user.
He began in tech as a Junior Technician in 2012 (12 whole years ago!)
The first project he was involved in was a migration from VMware to Hyper-V - This was his first real experience with operations on a larger scale, and he loved it! Soon after, a new player arrived on the scene - Hello Office 365 😎
Tobias' first employer were early adopters within their area, and Tobias says it was it was a challenging position to be in; mostly because they were pioneering a migration without much documentation or direction.
After five years, Tobias recollects connecting with two fancy gentlemen 👨🏻💼👨🏻💼 from Xenit, who came to discuss the endless possibilities of something called Azure. (At this point, Tobias had already implemented some solutions and was excited about the potential in this vast toolbox). After some deliberation, the opportunity was too good to pass up and he joined the family (thank GOODNESS for that ey?)
Tobias' first project at Xenit was to set up Hyper-V replication as a disaster recovery solution for one of our customers. He realised pretty early on that here he would be able to work with Azure much more often than before, and decided it might be a place worth sticking with.
Over the last 7.5 years Tobias has been promoted multiple times, and last year was promoted to the highest level for a technical consultant - Principal Engineer.
Tobias has gained extensive Microsoft certifications, including Microsoft Cloud Security Partner Champion 2024, and Defender for Cloud Champion 2024 🥇🎉
Today, Tobias finds joy in communicating with customers and translating their needs into effective cloud solutions. He has a particular interest in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Security/Governance within Azure.
As well as fathering two human children in his time here at Xenit, Tobias also fathered our Xenit Azure CloudOps Service, 🧑🏻🍼 and continues to provide unlimited value to our customers within that area; as well as within architecture and technical consulting.
Tobbe, our Cloud department would be lost without you. Thank you for all you do! 👏🏻
